Calling All Gamers: New England Revolution Host EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Tournament, Seek First eMLS Rep

BOSTON — The e-sports revolution has come to MLS and – appropriately – the New England Revolution are right in the middle of it. The club has announced that it’s seeking the most talented gamers to represent the club as its official eMLS Cup competitor. Major League Soccer and EA SPORTS debuted a new competitive gaming league for EA SPORTS FIFA 18.

A total of 19 MLS clubs will recruit and sign representatives to participate in the inaugural eMLS Cup, April 5-8, 2018 during PAX East in Boston. The winner will earn the right to represent MLS in the FIFA eWorld Cup in August.

Similar to NBA2K and Madden NFL E-Sports leagues, MLS is looking to appeal to the next generation of fans who engage with the sport through the highly sophisticated and competitive virtual platform.

Regionally, the Revolution’s tournament will take place at the Microsoft Store at Prudential Center in Boston this Friday at 5 p.m. The top player will officially join the club as its eMLS Cup representative, competing against 18 other Clubs’ eMLS competitors in eMLS Cup. For complete tournament details and to register for the tournament, fans may visit the club website here.

Gamers will compete by playing EA SPORTS FIFA 18 in the Revolution’s tournament on Friday, February 23 at the Microsoft Store. One winner will be selected to represent the New England Revolution in the eMLS Cup competition during the premier gaming culture festival PAX East from April 5-8 in Boston.
